Exhibition
Hella Jongerius’ exhibition Breathing Colour will be on display June 28th at the Design Museum in London. This installation will take a deeper look at the way colour behaves - exploring sheers, materials, shadows and reflection.
The Breathing Colour exhibition will contain multiple dynamic elements: textiles, porcelain tiles, colour catchers and 3D colour wheels that together will display the behaviour of light and movement on surfaces. This exhibition will not be only for those in the design industry but also for a larger audience who are drawn to colour in design, art and life. Based on what we know about Hella Jongerius, this is an exhibition not to miss.

Why We Like Hella Jongerius
Hella Jongerius has been under our radar since 2005 with the Non-Temporary Collection - earthenware celebrating the history of Royal Tichelaar Makkum. The title of the collection is ‘spot on’ as the collection shows the production stages from the raw material to the finished gloss. Here at the toi toi toi creative studio, we consider process just as fascinating as the final product, so why not show it.
Our creativity here in the studio has been energized through Hella Jongerius’ exploration in graduating colour shades. With colour experimentation as a constant in her process, she innovates and demonstrates that design has endless possibilities and for this we hold Hella Jongerius at the top of her league.

Book
To give you more insight into Hella Jongerius’ work, her book "I Don't Have A Favourite Colour" reveals an understanding of colour, light and materials and presents how this process has influenced and shaped Vitra's Portfolio. It draws on experiments in her Berlin studio, the colour theories of Michel-Eugène Chevreul and projects by great 20th century designers including Jean Prouvé and Verner Panton, and collaborations with contemporaries such as Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and Jasper Morrison. You can view and purchase the book on Gestalten’s website.
