Tom Hegen: The Salt Series III
Images are reduced to minimal compositions, often just pure line and colour, much like an abstract painting. There is intense beauty in the simplicity of these images, with a subject matter that evokes a visceral, emotional response. With rich, saturated colours and harmonious forms, it's hard to believe that Hegen's imagery is photographed in actual physical landscapes rather than imagined science fiction.

As we go about our day-to-day, we get caught up in our' business as usual' and the overwhelming demands for productivity under capitalism. Hegen, and many artists like him, serve as an important reminder of the systems we find ourselves in and their collective global impact on the planet; a reminder that we as a global community need to work together to find ways to protect and rehabilitate our natural world.
